Welcome to Ganderkesee

Ganderkesee is a modern town with beautiful surrounding landscapes, a good infrastructure, nice people and a dynamic, growing economy. With about 31,000 inhabitants, Ganderkesee is the biggest community in the Administrative District of Oldenburg. The cities of Bremen, Delmenhorst and Oldenburg are nearby. You can reach Ganderkesee by train or by motorway, but there’s also an airfield for smaller planes.

Ganderkesee is a regional carnival capital. Thousands of spectators join the streets during the annual procession of the “Fasching um den Ring”. Ganderkesee is also famous for the gander-figures, which you can find in many of the 25 hamlets of the town. The gander is the heraldic animal of Ganderkesee, due to the legendary origin of the main town of Ganderkesee and the huge church in the centre. If you like to relax, visit our new SaunaHuus – it’s one of the best in the whole region. There are so many things to discover…

No matter if you come as a tourist, for working, for your business or if you want to stay and live here  – you are always welcome. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon in Ganderkesee!

Best regards,

Alice Gerken-Klaas
Mayor
